“Being at MIRA Technology Park (MTP) has proven very successful for us and for the past five years our European Technical Centre has been used extensively for much of our worldwide tyre development. ” “In 2007, as part of the expansion of our R&D capabilities we, (Giti Tires) were looking for a suitable location to conduct tyre testing and support our product development. Though there are many automotive proving grounds around the world, there were only a few that met our demanding criteria. As a tyre is part of a total vehicle system we were looking for an independent proving ground with a comprehensive range of test tracks and indoor laboratories plus access to the latest automotive engineering and to global leaders in the field of vehicle technology. These needs immediately pinpointed MIRA as the only facility to offer the full potential to support the exacting demands and challenges placed on today’s tyre manufacturers and the reason why we decided to open our European Technical Centre (ETC) here. At MIRA we are able to develop all of the main complex elements of a tyre that contribute to the overall performance of the vehicle in terms of ride and handling, wet and dry performance, fuel economy, NVH and durability. MIRA has the laboratories and engineering ‘brains’ to help us with these many demanding engineering aspects and, in addition, to assist with the design of new tyre testing facilities as and when required. Being at MIRA Technology Park (MTP) has proven very successful for us and for the past five years our ETC has been used extensively for much of our worldwide tyre development. In addition to our direct development activities we also use the ETC for training of our technical and service staff from around the globe. Giti is a major player in the tyre industry with a rapid growth rate and we have taken advantage of the comprehensive facilities at MIRA to train many of our new engineers from China and Indonesia who come here for practical training in tyre R&D. Giti also have a frequent need to host events for OEMs, customers, suppliers, dealers and the media. Being located at MTP with its conference capabilities and comprehensive driving facilities on the proving ground is perfect for us to host our events and showpiece our products to the world.” Eddie Young Director, Research & Development Giti Tire - European Technical Centre Giti Tires are a major international tyre manufacturer.
