The proposals for MIRA Technology Park require a masterplanned approach to redevelop, reinforce and renew the existing vehicle engineering facilities. The development proposals respond to a requirement for a new larger Technology Park, and the upgrading and renewing of the existing MIRA engineering facilities. The development strategy will involve new and improved access from the A5 and a prominent frontage onto the main road, while still being respectful of its neighbours through green screening and strategic landscape zones. Existing architecture and landscaping models will be examined for best practice principles, to engender a renovation of MIRA’s tired existing facilities, as well as the establishment of a new Technology Park.
The focus of the new development is within the area outside the Proving Ground at the southern part of the estate which fronts the A5. The early phases of the development will be established around the attractively landscaped park centre which will house MIRA‘s own headquarters building. The remaining area within the masterplan will accommodate other companies who wish to locate within the new Technology Park in purpose built facilities but may also require access to MIRA’s test and development facilities.
The masterplan proposals encourage the evolution of areas of distinctly identifiable building clusters which will assist in breaking up the large site into a more human scale, each one with differing character within the overall Technology Park, creating areas of separate identity.
